UK Foreign Office Inspection Report

The reported location of the PoW within the grounds of Dalkeith Country Park is to be found to the North of the Park and just outside the grounds. This reported site location now being a field used to graze cattle and bounded by a river.

In reading FO 939/101 it appears that the camp may have moved its HQ moved from Deer Park to Gosford sometime around early to mid-1947. Or at that point Gosford became a Hostel Satellite Camp to Deer Park. Regardless it appears that there were strong links between Deer Park, Gosford and Amisfield with influence and PoW Numbers and services being passed on from one camp to the others with Amisfield being the 1st to close as a main camp. In addition, this camp was also numbered as Camps 1013 and 1024. Furthermore, it is possible that there was more than one camp at this site.
