Former Camp 14 Doonfoot was located on the wind swept sea front site jut to the west of Air and has like so many sites been lost to new housing. In fact the entire has been lost to what i would call a mono culture development were a single large housing estate has been built as a single development with all the housings having a sameness about them.

In many ways this really is one of sites where an information board, marks or monument should have been erected, we think today that many of the PoWs lived a contented existence especially Italian PoWs. This is evidently untrue in the case of Doonfoot in that it is the site of a mass escape attempt.
