PoW Camp 81 Pingley Farm

The site of former PoW Camp 81 Pingley Farm is now made up of Brigg Garden Centre, Farm Fields and a new Housing Development Pingley Vale. Despite the changes over the years a single Maycrete along with a wooden hut have survived. These can of all places be found at the back of the Garden Centre Children’s Play Area

The former site of PoW Camp 81 Pingley farm is now divided into three or four discrete sites.

The simplest is that a section of the former camp is now a part of a farmers field.

The largest area of the former PoW Camp site is now occupied by Brigg Garden Centre.

The “newest” area of the former camp is occupied by an upmarket small housing estate called Pingley Vale.

And the final area and in relation to this project the most interesting is a small patch of land between the Garden Centre and Housing Estate and belongs to the Garden Centre. This small strip of land contains a couple of Maycrete and what looks like a small wooden hut from the camp. It is interesting to note and actually see one of the huts with a small water tower that now forms the back of the Garden Centres Childrens Play Area
