Description
On walking the site, it rapidly became obvious that the Playing Field was part of a former military site with two brick huts intact and in use as a Barlow Village Club and Barlow Village Hall. There are surviving hut bases close to the huts as well as what appears to be the original entrance road. The back of the playing field has several government type concrete fence posts in the hedgerow and there are bases and traces throughout the playing field. In fact, in a lot of places the grass on the playing is but patchy turf on top of concrete hardstanding and or rubble.
Also please note that within the original English Heritage Document of 2003 this site was incorrectly identified as PoW Camp 585 Searchlite
