Several Racecourses and other major sporting venues were utilised as PoW Camp. With the racecourse these sites covered a large are and multiple existing buildings that could be used to support the sites logistics.
I had by the time I visited Warwick Racecourse I had already visited York and Kempton Park along with several other sites. Warwick like the others shows no evidence of its use as a former PoW Camp with any huts, tents, paths etc having been removed and the site restored. However, within the inside of the racecourse its self-there is a camping site for use by Camper Vans and Caravans A number of former PoW were on closures and the removal of buildings but retaining hut bases were used as caravan sites. Further investigations into this Camping area may be warranted.
