This former PoW has like many before it been lost to development. In this case it’s a very large industrial estate called Pennygillam Industrial Estate on the West of Launceston, and can been seen from a distance owing to its Wind Turbine.

The English Heritage PoW Camp Report of 2003 place the PoW Camp site towards the centre of the estate. However, this is incorrect, with the help from information from Malcolm Sanders as well as OS Maps modern, just before and just after the war the location of the camp has been verified. The Pennygillam Farm Industrial Estate sits on the junction between the A30, A388 and B3254 sitting as it does to the South of the A30 and to the west and north of the B Road. The entrance to the industrial estate is of a traffic island and is in approximately the same location as the entrance to the former PoW Camp with the original A30 slip road to the A388 with other markers being the Cemetery on the North of the S30 and Quarry and Quarry Lane to the West. The camp laid about halfway between Quarry Lane and the Traffic Island on Traffic Island Side.

The above was discovered following my site visit in September 2019 as such not all the images I originally shot of the industrial estate were valid and have been omitted from the additional image set. The images shown on this page cover the area in which the camp was sighted and or would have included the camp in part had it still existed.

Note: There is a nearby Camp 406 Scarnecross Camp. During my visit of September 2019, I believe I had located it a few hundred metres to the east of Pennygillam. This was incorrect as it was a lot closer and just on the opposite side of he road, thus a revisit is needed to this area
