Number 4 General Hospital was prior to WWII the local cottage hospital for the small town of Knutsford to the west of Manchester. It was taken over by the Military for the Duration initially treat Allied Forces but became a dedicated PoW Hospital.

Post war with the introduction of the NHS it once again became the local Cottage Hospital and the Maternity Unit for the local area. Today the site remains a small local hospital within the NHS, however, several buildings on the site to the immediate west of the current site were demolished and replace with modern flats.

The site is now Knutsford Clinic, Knutsford District and Community Hospital
