During the late 1930s and throughout the second world war a large number of military airfields were built in the UK. Unlike the Pre-war airfields these sites used prefabricated building dispersed sometimes as much as 3 Km away from the runways in order to limit casualties in the event of air raids.
In searching for PoW Camp 702, I located the remains of one of these dispersed sites in what is now called Leedsgate Farm. This site contains the remains of the RAF Officer Accommodation site for Kingscliffe in the form of several deteriorating Maycrete Huts and air-raid shelters. This dispersed accommodation site and is located to the North East of the former Runway. Whilst there is no direct evidence of the site being used to accommodate former PoWs it is likely that they may have been employed on the site or within the adjacent woodland.
